Work stages
The work builds on previous initiatives relating to cancer clinical nurse specialist sustainability and has been taken forward in three stages:
This involved the refinement of an existing benchmark tool and the development of a bespoke database to accompany it. The questionnaire and database have been piloted with cancer clinical nurse specialists in Highland and Lothian to enable real data entry, and the database is being further developed to produce short descriptive reports.
2. Review of existing clinical activity databases
The review is being taken forward to appraise the efficacy and applicability of attempts to capture advanced practice activity.
3. Mapping of national, NHS Board and local operational level data
This looks at data that are, or could be, considered for future capture.
